With more than 20 years in the construction industry and 15 years managing major infrastructure projects, Derek boasts a consistent record of delivering projects successfully, underpinned by his extensive expertise. He has overseen nearly $2 billion worth of construction projects in 14 countries and has been at the helm of more than 50 mass timber projects, showcasing his precise understanding of job specifics and unmatched technical acumen.
Derek is known for his exceptional communication with clients, delivering products of the highest quality within challenging deadlines. Driven by his commitment to the environment, he leads sustainable mass timber projects by integrating innovative management strategies and state-of-the-art construction techniques, pushing the industry forward.
In his current role, Derek is pivotal in driving the development of the Project Management Office and its initiatives, while also managing Mercer Mass Timber’s ventures in California and the Southwest United States.
His portfolio of work includes landmark projects such as the YouTube SBO-1 Campus, Google MT2 JAVA Campus, Tallwood 1 Tower, and the Ilo Peaky 540 MW power plant — each noted for their innovative approach and impressive scope.
