Glulam stock program for distribution partners
High-performance beams and columns—readily available to our Canadian partners
Performance you can see, and trust
Mercer Mass Timber delivers a robust glulam stock program built for both form and function. With precision fabrication, consistent finishes, and a range of in-demand sizes, our glulam beams and columns support bold design and dependable supply.
Appearance grades
Our glulam isn’t hidden behind drywall. It’s sanded, resawn, or wire-brushed to bring warmth and character to exposed applications – indoors and out.

Quality
Laminations may contain natural growth characteristics in specified grades of laminating stock.
Tight knots and stain may be present on exposed surfaces.
Sides should be surfaced true to specified dimensions.
Planer misses along individual laminations should be patched with replacement stock. Exposed surfaces should be sanded smooth and free of adhesive.
Loose knots, knot holes and voids greater than 19 mm in diameter on exposed surfaces shall be replaced by wood inserts or non-shrinking, waterproof filling material.
Wane, pitch pockets, loose knots, knot holes and voids on exposed surfaces shall be replaced by wood inserts or non-shrinking, waterproof filling material.
Sides should be surfaced true to specified dimensions.
Beams and columns come sanded smooth to 80 grit. If, however, your project calls for a more rustic or rough-hewn look, optional surface finishes are available. Resawn or wirebrush options provide a more natural, weathered appearance.
Strength beneath the surface
Made from Douglas-fir with clear glue lines and a staggered layup for enhanced shear performance, our products exceed CSA O122 standards and are rigorously machine-tested.
Staggered multiple piece lamination
The staggered multiple-piece lamination method in glulam creates a noncontiguous shear plane, allowing forces to be carried through overlapping laminations rather than depending solely on glue line integrity.
By distributing shear resistance in this way, the system is inherently safer and more robust, reducing reliance on stringent glue line quality control compared to block-glued lamination methods.
Block glued glulam (for columns only)
The block glued glulam lamination method creates a contiguous vertical shear plane that relies on the glue-bond line integrity to transfer loads through the glulam member.
In an asymmetric loading application, the load component must transfer across the glue line in shear to allow the glulam member to act as a compound unit.
Inventory on-hand. Customization on-demand.
With a wide inventory—including billets up to 60 feet—and quick turnaround on custom glulam orders, our distribution program is designed to minimize delays and maximize flexibility. Standard stock is commercial appearance only. Resawn, wire-brush, Quality, and Industrial finishes are made to order.

Store off ground with proper ventilation
Keep wrapped until installation
Finish and seal before building heat is introduced
Handle with care using wide slings and soft strapping
Recommend using corner protection on glulam members for transport and installation
